What is this mod?

MetaNPC replaces villagers with characters that have professions, moods, reputation, memory, and conversations powered by ChatGPT, Ollama, or OpenRouter.

In short: Not suitable for a modern pack, but an intriguing option for themed Minecraft 1.12.2 modpacks.

What you need

  • Minecraft 1.12.2
  • Forge
  • An API key or a local Ollama instance

Installation

  1. Install the correct Forge version for Minecraft 1.12.2.
  2. Choose a file for your exact game version on the official project page.
  3. Move the .jar file into .minecraft/mods.
  4. Add every dependency listed by the author, then launch a separate test profile.
  5. Configure a local model or your own API key. Never share the key.

Important limitations

  • Works only on an old Minecraft version
  • Some features are marked experimental by the author
  • Files cannot be redistributed under the All Rights Reserved license
