What is this mod?

Speaking Villagers gives villagers contextual dialogue, memory, relationships, and procedurally generated quests based on their surroundings and the player’s actions.

In short: A clear entry point into AI mods when you want lively villagers rather than a general-purpose chatbot.

What it can do

  • Context-aware villager conversations
  • More than 8,000 personality combinations
  • Friendship, gifts, and generated quests
  • Voice input and speech output on Windows

What you need

  • Fabric Loader and Fabric API
  • Java 21
  • Your own API key
  • Mod Menu is recommended by the author

Installation

  1. Install the correct Fabric version for Minecraft 1.20.1–1.21.5.
  2. Choose a file for your exact game version on the official project page.
  3. Move the .jar file into .minecraft/mods.
  4. Add every dependency listed by the author, then launch a separate test profile.
  5. Configure a local model or your own API key. Never share the key.

Important limitations

  • Some voice features are limited to Windows
  • Multiplayer is not fully optimized yet
  • API usage may incur charges
